My Second Love: Young Adult Fiction

When I'm not spray painting something, sewing, crafting, refashioning or refinishing, I am reading. Honestly, now that I am less than three weeks from my due date, I've been doing a lot more reading and a lot less everything else!

My friend Emily has a reading blog, Emily's Reading Room, where she reviews the latest and best children and young adult fiction. She recently asked me to be a contributor and I couldn't be more excited! I have two reviews posted so far:

If you're looking for a good book to read, stop by Emily's blog, check out my reviews and find some awesome recommendations!

  1. I love this post. I too am less than 3 weeks from my due date, and I love young adult fiction. I worked in a middle school library for four years and read as many books in there as I possible could (I am usually go for the Sci-fi and fantasy stuff first). Have you read Shade's Children or the Abhorsen Trilogy, both by Garth Nix? Great stuff.

  2. AJay, you know I have had tons of people tell me to read the Abhorsen Trilogy and I haven't done it! I need to put them on my list. My favorite young adult fiction has to be dystopia, i.e., Hunger Games, Uglies Series, etc. BUT fantasy is a close second :) Have you read anything by Cinda Williams Chima? She is a new favorite author of mine.

  3. I need to read Hunger Games. I put it on hold at the library, but there are over 1,000 names on the list, so it's going to be a while. Haha, I will admit, I was one of the few in high school who liked reading Lord of the Flies.
I recognize the titles of Cinda Williams Chima's books, so I'm going to have to check her out. Have you read anything by Tamora Pierce? I've read and reread her books, and my amazing husband bought me some first editions of her Lioness series books. I've heard of the Uglies Series...pretty sure I saw them at the library. Might have to check them out too.
